The Romans occupied Majorca some 2000 years ago and at that time Alcudia was the island`s capital.
One of the amazing structures which has survived almost intact since that time and which for many years was virtually a hidden gem with no official signing as to what and where it was is the–
–Roman Theater.
Only in recent years has it`s whereabouts been signposted. When you are in Alcudia old town just look for the direction signs. It is about a twenty minute walk from the old town and well worth visiting. The main reason why it has survived in near perfect condition is that the raised seating and the overall layout have been cut into the rock. Simply fantastic.
